Watashi rashiku tame ni

We received a late Christmas card a few days ago. Looking at the sender's name and address I got excited... and confused. For there wrote my cousin's name, Ryan (who is my cousin from the Phillipines) and another name whom I do not recognize.

Looking inside the card, my jaw dropped as I saw a picture of him and another girl. "Mom!" I called. "Who's the girl next to Ryan? Is that his girl friend?"

"No," my mother replied, rather stiffly. "That's his wife."

"What??" me and my sister cried out. "He got married? Why didn't he tell us? It would've been a big deal..."

"No. He got married so that he could stay in America."

Ryan is only a few years older than me. Maybe 2 to 3 years older. He's been studying to be an engineer and has furthered his studies in America. But his permit to stay had run out, and seeing as America is the land of opportunities, he took the chance. He got married to one of his classmates so that he could continue to stay in that country.

My father then commented, "I can't believe he wasted his future just like that."

I fear the future sometimes. It's hard to think that one small step could actually cement a part of your future. I can only imagine what my cousin had to go through to come up with such a decision. It sounds so fleet, so simple... to just settle down so that you can continue working. But can it all be as simple as that?

I know that the Phillipines is going through a lot of political problems now... but surely if he wanted to work in America, he could've done something more than to find such a "simple" solution.

Memories of how we used to play when we were younger fill my mind at this moment. It's hard to believe that this is the same boy who decided to marry for a strange reason like to stay in a certain country.

But maybe I'm wrong... maybe there is more to this marriage than what's stated. Maybe it's not the way my mother put it.

Or maybe it's just me with a hope that the vows of marriage haven't been abused like the way it's been abused quite a lot lately.

I'll never know...

Whatever it is, I pray that we'll never have to go through such decisions that affects our lives, especially in a long term.

Take care and God bless.

Kamo shiranai...

A new layout for a new year ahead of me. Much more cheerful than my past ones though the colours may not speak so. @_@

Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed Christmas. I sorta did... I finally met my Goddaughter (yes, you read that right), Sarah Jane. Big little thing (lol!) and such a sweet heart as she's always smiling. You can imagine how happy I was after first meeting her and as I "talked" to her, she smiled at me and "tried" to talk back. She's quite strong, and drools a lot. But other than that, she's adorable. The baptism is this Wednesday, and I'm wondering what gift should I get her. (Her family's quite picky and I fear that they might be too demanding >.<)

Anyway, Christmas was also fun because two of my male cousins and my uncle had a special act for the rest of the family. My cousin (who's the mother of my Goddaughter) who stumbled into them before they could perform, came out grinning and said, "Santa Rina and the Elf has been devirginised."

And out came my two cousins. One was wearing tight green pants, with a mask that looked like a grinning old man with moustache, and big fake ears that kept falling off (which we then called the elf a leper. ^^). The other one (who was skinny and tall) came out in a skimpy Santa Rina outfit (his hairy legs exposed), with a messy long wig and a mask that's always pouting for a kiss. He then went to the elf and "shared a passionate kiss". ^^

Of course, Christmas isn't complete without Santa. So out came Santa, looking quite fine when he grabs Santa Rina and the elf and they each start touching each other and sharing weird kisses.

My cousin was right... they were devirginised... by Santa. Lol!!

So after a lot of photo shoots and funny moments (where Santa Rina goes around kissing everyone and the elf scaring the children), they began giving out gifts. I was the first to be called out (>_<) and as I sat on Santa's lap (a must for all), I asked him, "Do I have to kiss you now?"

"Well... if you want to." He then gave me my present. "Now you have to kiss me." And I ran before I had no choice but to give Santa a kiss.

The rest was pretty normal. I got tons of bags and clothes, an IC Recorder, a Japanese Dictionary, some accessories, a wallet and some money. Oo... I even got chocolate, but my family's taking most of it. >.>

But even after all this, let's not forget the reason why we celebrate Christmas. So...

Thank you, Jesus, for coming into this world and giving a lot of people hope in this dreary world. Bless all those who continue to love you, that they will continue to have faith in you. Bless all those who have abandoned you, that they will someday come back to you. Bless all those who do not believe in you, may their beliefs be of your will. Bless the unfortunate, continue to care for them...

Happy Birthday, Lord. And Merry Christmas to everyone!!! Take care and God bless! ^^

p.s. Here's a little something for all of you whom I have not shown yet. It's the video of some really cool Christmas lights. ^^
